BIOGRAPHY
Raphael Behraz Ghobadloo was born in Berlin to an Iranian father and a German mother. Growing up between two cultures shaped both his perspective and his storytelling. As a child, he acted in German films and TV shows, but after high school, he shifted behind the camera, working across various departments on film sets.
His search for identity and the tension between cultures became central themes in his own films, leading him to study directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. His graduation film "Alles auf Germania" tackled these subjects with sharp humor, earning a nomination for the First Steps Award and winning multiple awards at international festivals.
After graduating, he was selected for Netflix’s Shadow Directing Program, working on The Grimm Reality (W&B Television). Alongside his work as a director, he currently is a staff writer for the fifth season of ZDF’s acclaimed comedy series Doppelhaushälfte.
He specializes in fiction and commercial directing with a strong emphasis on performance. Based in Berlin, he is currently developing the feature version of "Alles auf Germania".
